ABOUT THE UNFINSHED

The Unfinished Files

The Unfinished Files and Eagle Cold Case - Missing Person Institute is a non-profit 501(c)(3) investigative organization created to advocate and investigate, on behalf of victims and families of crime, and utilize various media outlets to ensure new information and cases are kept top of mind in the community.  The Organization is governed by a Board of Directors who oversee operations, make decisions on cases that are investigated, as well as oversee various programs an initiatives.

The Unfinished Files is a podcast and video program, created and hosted by award winning television and radio personality Tyler Ryan and seasoned private investigator Brian Setree.

Ryan and Setree founded the Unfinished Files, and together investigate and re-examine cases, sharing details, working directly with law enforcement and families, and in many cases, suspects involved with the cases.  Very often, fresh eyes can provide new angles and ideas, and can be that one tiny thing, all in hopes of bringing peace and closure to those involved.

The major difference with The Unfinished Files Podcast is that we are not only discussing cold cases, repeating information that has been found on the Internet and re-told.  We are actively investigating the cases, working directly with law enforcement, family and victims, that you hear on the show.

In 2019, The Unfinished Files partnered with Eagle Cold Case and Missing Person Institute, creating one of the largest private criminal investigation, training, data collection and media groups in the United States.

The work of the Unfinished and ECC-MPI is often provided at no cost to the client, however, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, The Unfinished does accept donations in order to continue their mission of advocacy, peace, and justice for victims of crimes.

What is a "Cold Case?"

A cold case is a crime, or suspected crime, that has not yet been fully resolved and is not the subject of a recent criminal investigation, but for which new information could emerge from new witness testimony, re-examined archives, new or retained material evidence, as well as fresh activities of the suspect.

Often times, the only interaction people have with law enforcement isn’t the most positive - lights in your rear view mirror - and we know NOBODY likes to be stopped - but of the other -  when you are a victim, law enforcement gives everything they can to serve.  Remember that officers are not on the job for the money or glory - but even their heart to protect and serve come limitations.

The limitations may be manpower, budgets, resources, or even experience...or in some cases, theories that simply can’t be explored - that is where The Unfinished Foundation comes in.

The seasoned investigative members of the Foundation work WITH law enforcement, victims, families, and in many cases, suspects of crimes or incidents. Our mission is to provided an unattached set of eyes, experiences, attained evidence to find closure for all parties involved.

The Unfinished Team of investigators, researchers, writers, and story tellers are very experienced in all aspects of the process of looking into cold and missing person cases.  Utilizing years of experience, fact gathering, interviewing, and technology, to review cases, reports, court documents, and other information in order to bring listeners be best information, in hopes of finding peace and closure to cold and missing person cases.
